I had WinXP for TEN YEARS before switching to Win7. There's no way I'm paying to jump to Win8 a year after buying 7.

I really wouldn't... especially with the metro interface... wait for 9 which will hopefully be better and the same upgrade price! From the looks of it, 8 is another vista, and its the product of the man that brought Windows phone among other failed projects...

Re: Windows 8 Professional Upgrade $40
There's been too much input into Win 8. It originally started as a streamline OS that can run smoothly on a 1GHz ARM processor. In fact Windows intended the OS to replace Android on tablets.... but that all changed. There's been too many hands in the design and Windows 8 is turning into another Vista with a Windows Mobile 7 look and feel.
Like what Rafterman said... 8's not worth it right now.

40$ is sweet. I will prob buy it just because its so cheap. Although I will drive to mr gates house n kick him on the balls if it doesn't let me switch off the metro interface.
I hope they aren't so dumb as to not allow that switching off.

Actually Gates left. Windows 8 is the brainchild of Gates's failure of a partner

Re: Windows 8 Professional Upgrade $40
I had a preview of windows 8 last night, it looks like a windows phone layout, it's neat but i don't think I'm going to change OS's any time soon.
I am getting a copy at no cost and I'll load it onto my laptop and see how it goes.
