Its already fun to make maps for COH... :D

Im making good progress on my map(trying to put atleast 30 mins in every night), Im about to work on my towns and then finish up the allies base, then it might be ready for testing. Rafterman I would love to have you help test out my map, since you are already quite familiar with Worldbuilder, so you could give more reasonable advice since you already know the limits of worldbuilder. But we are still a couple weeks away from that point.

Definitely. I am even more excited for CoH2 than I was for BF3 and Skyrim. Don't get me wrong, they're great games and I put well over 100hrs into each one, but for me, they don't have the staying power and replay factor that CoH has. That game is SIX years old and still played by several of us here, not to mention thousands of others who are on every day. I can only imagine how long CoH2 will live for. :D

Personally, I've got a lot riding on the success of CoH2. I'm going to be using that game to produce content in the form of numerous maps and replay casts that will be a big part of my new website (and later, hopefully a business) that I'm working on. Eventually, when I've made it through more of my Java and C++ programming classes, I plan to expand the brand name into game-related mobile app development as well. :)

I'm always on XFire and usually home at night. Just hit me up if you need anyone, as logik can attest, I generally need to be told to play rather than ask someone if they want to.

I never use xfire anymore sadly, fullwood just hop on teamspeak and join the CoH channel. There is usually atleast one game of CoH everynight played by the community.

Interesting article on how Relic is trying to create an authentic experience for COH 2. I am liking how the new MG 42 burst sounds :awesome: .

I hope that release date they are posting is wrong.... I thought the proposed release date is first quarter 2013, not 4th quarter  . Then again, they can can take the extra time to really improve the gameplay, the authenticity and the balance.

I wouldn't pay any attention to the December 31, 2013 release date. Since Relic and THQ have simply said "2013" so far, IGN just uses that date as a default. They put that instead of Jan 1, 2013 because people would literally expect the game to be released on New Year's Day, which NEVER happens.

I firmly believe we'll see a late winter/early spring release. They wouldn't be doing so much advertising and have a teaser trailer out already if the game wasn't coming out for another 12-18 months.

Since games are normally released on Tuesday, I think February 26th (my birthday) would be a perfect time to let this game loose on the world. Plus, a release during the colder months goes well with the wintery settings you'd encounter in the eastern front.

Some other screenshots and tidbits about the game :)

Units can suffer from cold weather, a guage shows how cold or warm a unit is. If left in the cold for too long, or stationary, the unit gets hypothermia and eventually dies. This happens faster in blizzard conditions, which is part of the dynamic weather system called "ColdTech".

Units can use cover or vehicles to shelter behind from the cold, and engineers can create fires to warm up units. This mechanic makes engineers more important than in the original Company of Heroes: they are vital in saving your troops from hypothermia. Similarly, troop transports such as halftracks now also serve as a weapon against the cold. Destroying buildings and vehicles can be used to expose the enemy to the cold.

Air strikes are available only during good flying conditions; during blizzards, airplanes will not fly.

Ice is a factor on the battlefield: vehicles slide on icy surfaces. Ice can also break and (re)freeze. During blizzards, ice refreezes quicker. Troops and vehicles can sink through the ice. Vehicles moving over ice can damage it, and explosives can be placed on key points to break the ice under vehicles.

The improved AI featured in the campaign is called "Live AI". It relies on an objective instead of a set of scripted events. This will allow it to perform task more efficiently, such as retaking vehicles, flanking, and interestingly, restocking ammunition.

Good stuff gives me time to get the desktop up and running again. Took it all apart and tossed the tower when I moved to FL. Laptop became primary use but it's to expensive to buy another gaming laptop and plus I like getting my hands dirty when putting together a new machine.

Some of the gaming media have already been able to play a demo version of the game at Gamescom 2012.

Eurogamer appears to be the first time the public will be able to get their hands on it though.

At this point in time, I just want a damn release date already. I'm still sticking to my original estimate of Q1 2013 though. Probably sometime in March if I had to pick a month.
