Saving Private Ryan - Movie Based COD2 Event - Info / Signup

Time for something a little different.....

Sunday July 10th at 8pm eastern join us at the PressureCooker for "Saving Private Ryan" - a night of COD2 battles based loosely on the movie.

This is a one night mixed mode event played on a series of 5 or 6 maps starting with the Omaha landing map and ending with the bridge battle at Ramelle.

Total play time should be about 2 hours...

In between those two maps I'll try to find maps that approximate places and conditions similar to the combat seen in the movie. Game modes would include Search & Destroy, Last Team Standing, Team Death Match and Capture The Flag.

These maps arent firm yet:
Omaha landing - Omaha Search & Destroy mode
Neuville - New Villers (because its dark and rainy like the movie) Capture the Flag mode
Carentan - Carentan Ville Last Team Standing or CTF
Radar Station Assaut - Shultz Radar ?? LTS or TDM
Half Track Hunt - Search & Destroy Mode
Ramelle - Outlaw Ramelle Capture the Flag with all the bells & whistles turned on...airstrikes, artillery, grenades, mgs, smoke, tripwires, landmines..

This event is open to all AX players..our server regulars and the Heck Yeah community. We'd like to pack the servers 25 slots so the games have that big battle feel.

This wont be ax vs hy..teams will be mixed and will change with each map.

Why sign up?
Signing up ensures you a place. You can always try to join in if there are slots open that night but those who sign up are assured a spot. 12 spots are available for AX members...more if HY doesnt fill all theirs. We may extend invitations to our friends at Outlaw as well.

You'll also receive reminders as the event approaches.

I've finished up most of my necessary school paperwork and really don't have much to do until August. More than likely I should be able to make this scrimmage. Sign me up!

Thanks, Chicago. I've noticed that I've become microphone shy again. Didn't talk as much during the games, and usually typing long sentences that I'm sure most of my teammates disliked reading.

Alright guys…..here's all the details in preparation for Sundays "Saving Private Ryan" theme based COD2 event.

Play will begin at 8pm sharp..Eastern time. Come early and warm up. A warmup map will be running at 7:30.

Here are the maps, the game types and the weapons loadouts.

Omaha Beach - Search & Destroy with unlimited respawns, 2- 15 minutes rounds. All stock weapons are available. Limit of 2 snipers per team.. 1 frag and 1 smoke grenade per player with a limit of 4 active smoke grenades per team. Lethal artillery strikes available at 20 points. Random nonlethal mortars coming in randomly.

We will play 2 round so every gets to be allied and german once.

Note. If your whole team is killed at one time the other team will win that round..so respawn ASAP and stay alive

Newvillers - Neadquarter -20 minute round. All stock weapons are available. Limit of 2 snipers per team.. 1 frag and 1 smoke grenade per player with a limit of 4 active smoke grenades per team.

Carentan Ville - Last Team Standing 4- 5 minute rounds with team switching after 2 rounds. All stock weapons are available. Limit of 2 snipers per team.. 1 frag and 1 smoke grenade per player with a limit of 4 active smoke grenades per team.

Flakbatterie - Capture the Flag -20 minute round. All stock weapons are available. Limit of 2 snipers per team.. 1 frag and 1 smoke grenade per player with a limit of 4 active smoke grenades per team.

Ramelle - Search & Destroy with unlimited respawns, 2- 15 minutes rounds. All stock weapons are available. Limit of 2 snipers per team.. 1 frag and 1 smoke grenade per player with a limit of 4 active smoke grenades per team. Lethal artillery strikes available at 20 points. Nonlethal mortars, and airstrikes coming in randomly just to make it more of a mess.

All I can say is smoke and FLOOD THE MIDDLE, or you will never get off the beach people!!!!

Red Indicates smoke points, be precise!, notice the mg bunkers are nicely placed directly in back of cement tank traps....Be aware of where you are on the beach at all times....There's gonna be a lotta shit going down...and you don't want to get lost.


Green is your hopeful angle of attack....

NOW ...YOU... are not going to take on the German Army alone..so don't just run in there like some hero...get situated with your team at the sea wall, waiting 3 minutes until you can use smoke again would also come in handy...4(active) only...
.Use the cover and communicate the best time to go. I know this seems a little cheesy, but i'm serious, we played this with 5 people and could hardly get off the beach, imagine 20+. From the green squares, a sniper would have complete defilade from those firing positions, and could be key ingredient to getting your team inside. Good luck.

...also remember...drawing MG fire is smart while at the seawall...Let them heat them up, before you bulk attack the bunkers.

It's also a good idea to have a sniper in the boat. It's a good spot to pick off the mounted m-gunners.

Nice work Chicago....now hide these plans from the 12 guys you'll be fighting against...and make sure you get a copy to the other 11 guys on your team.

Now you just need to devise a plan to get past the "big assed" choke point inside the tunnels.
