A legitimate request and argument.
Here is my honest, straight up argument for why we should enable the scope for the M1 Garand on our World at War servers. It's simply a matter of balance.
Scoped Weapons by Nation
United States
Soviet Union
Germany
Obviously, Germany and the Soviets have a clear advantage over the US when it comes to scoped weapons. Putting back the ability to add a scope on the Garand would add to the balance of the game as far as infantry weapons are concerned. Considering that it's part of the default game in the first place, I don't see why it was removed to begin with, as taking it away gives a clear advantage to the other armies in the ability to engage targets at a distance. In fact, I'd argue for removing scopes from the list of attachments for the MP44 and FG42 guns LONG before nixing it from the Garand's list of add-ons. The FG42 and MP44 are fully automatic rifles, which after adding a scope to them gives the user a great advantage for sustained firepower at a distance. Therefore, please return the scope to the list of weapon attachments for the Garand.

Speaking of scopes.... is the amount of sway editable? The amount you get when standing still, crouching or prone is what it should be like if your moving. I know you can minimize it by hitting shift. just a thought....

I've complained about the amount of sway since the game first came out. I don't know if it's editable or not, but what I do know is that although I'm no expert marksman, I can hold a rifle pretty darn steady without having to hold my breath. Much more so than the game does. FYI though, the scoped SVT-40, G43 and Garand have MUCH less sway than the bolt-action guns do.
p.s. Stripes was a kick-ass movie.

To be honest, I agree with Ted about his scoped Garand. And not because he mentions it about every 5.4 minutes he's playing (I've been keeping tabs on TS). I don't really see how it's any worse than having the elephant gun on the soviet side.

I cant realy say to much on the matter because i never use scopes, but looking at Rafters post makes me think it should be added to the garand and taken away from the stg44/fg42.

Agree on the stg44, disagree on the FG42. FG42 had it during the war, but it was never on the stg44 (to my knowledge, at least). I actually think it's harder to hit people when it's on the fg42

In an effort to maintain at least a minor level of authenticity with the time period, we should keep scopes available for the weapons that actually had them during the war.
The players like and use all different kinds of guns, so there's certainly no worry about a game with 15 scoped Garands vs. 15 scoped Gewehr 43s.

I fully agree with Kraut. The scope was essential to the FG42 as it was used by paratroopers. I also agree it can be harder with the scope so I always use it without. Kind of a 50/50 there as you'll have players who do and don't use the scope. As for the STG44, ditch the scope. The scope was used on it but in very limited use.

Agreed and agreed. I love the Kar but I never use it with a scope. There's enough of us only-scoped or only-unscoped players out there to keep it balanced, imo.

Re: A legitimate request and argument.

Maybe if we had only one scope per match on each side, that would be cool. After all,
wants reality and historically, there were not even three snipers assigned to a sqad...

I use scoped rifles almost 100% of the time.

Corn, can I get an ETA on this? My trigger finger is starting to itch somethin' fierce. My thirst for death and carnage can no longer be satiated by the SVT-40.
