ctf server updates - 10.27.2008
new mod features:
sudden death
if the game is tied and one or more flags are not at their base, the game will go into sudden death (indicated by the timer showing 0:00). respawns will not be enabled in this situation (last man standing). the first team to score will end the game.
if a team is down by 1 flag capture and they possess the winning team's flag, the game will go into sudden death. the losing team will have a chance to end the game in a draw, only if the winning team doesn't return their flag first.
everyone loves a close game, and this makes it even closer.
score memory
this is a feature that has made its way over from UO BAS, with some minor differences.
when you disconnect from a game (or you are kicked for whatever reason), the server will store information about you for 10 minutes (score, kills, deaths, # of flag captures, etc). when you reconnect, you will automatically join the team you were on when you were disconnected, and you will have the same weapon. your score, deaths, and HUD values will be restored.
new maps:
Newvillers by Rollinhard
Schloss Adler Beta 4 by rocketman
punkbuster adjustment:
the default kick time has been lowered from 2 minutes to 1 minute. if it would let me do seconds, i would.
if you happen to encounter any bugs, please post them in this thread. thanks.

Re: ctf server updates - 10.27.2008
Great job Gitman on the updates. Love the overtime when tied, but question whether game should go into overtime to allow for a tie when one team is up by 1 and time runs out for the opposing team to score?
Also like the reduction of punk buster boot time to 1 min and retention of game stats, however I'd still like to see the number of boots for lost packets reduced or eliminated if possible. Still seems like this is happening to a lot of players.
Maybe a post explaining why lost packets happen and what players can do on their end to reduce or eliminate them might help?
Thanks again for your work on this.

Jupp, happens also to me from time to time. Yesterday evening for example:

Communities are not killed by the games or their gamers, they are killed by bad leadership.

that only happens if the losing team holds the winning team's flag. the losing team has done the work to get the flag, why not give them the opportunity to score?Loanshark wrote:Maybe a post explaining why lost packets happen and what players can do on their end to reduce or eliminate them might help?
