HOW-TO: Adjust 'com_hunkmegs'
(use this command if you are receiving "hunk" errors on some maps, or map loading times seem slow)
the value of com_hunkmegs is the amount of ram that is allocated to cod. 128 is the default setting, with patch 1.51 increasing that amount if you have more than 128MB system ram.
to change this value, bring down the console (~ key) and type /set com_hunkmegs number. the number you choose should be around half of your total system memory. so if you have 512MB of ram, then 256 is a safe value to go with. anything past 75% of your total memory and you will start to see problems.
-------------
logik's how-to:
Setting hunkmegs Manually in UO
1. Open up your "\Call of Duty\UO" folder to find "uoconfig_mp.cfg"
2. Open up "uoconfig_mp.cfg" and do a search (ctrl+F) for "hunkmegs"
3. Scroll to the right of "com_hunkmegs" where there is a 3 digit number in quotes, default is "128". Set this value to half of your RAM (if you have 1GB or more of RAM, set this value to "512". Save the file and exit.
4. Go back to your main "\Call of Duty\" folder and find the "\Call of Duty\anarchicmod_rc2" folder.
5. Open your "\Call of Duty\anarchicmod_rc2" folder and find "uoconfig_mp.cfg"
6. Repeat steps 2 and 3.
7. Open Call of Duty:United Offensive MultiPlayer. Bring down the console by typing the tilde key (~). Type "/com_hunkmegs" and Enter. If your console tells you:
then you have properly excecuted the proceedure (if you entered a value other than "512" then "is:" should reflect that value). If it does not reflect the correct value, repeat from step 1.

type com_hunkmegs in the console and it'll give you the current setting.
make sure to set this without the mod loaded first then with. if its set with only the mod config, and you load normal UO first, com_hunkmegs will not be changed.

This occured to me, and i probably sound really stupid, but if i have a gig of ram and i set it to 512, does that mean that ram is allocated to CoD at all times, or only when i'm playing the game?

For Call of Duty 2
Method 1
> Run Call of Duty 2 MP
> Bring down the console (~ or `)
> Type: seta com_hunkMegs "number" ("number" is any integer between 1 and 512. It is recommended that you allocate half of your total RAM).
> Exit from the game
> Restart Call of Duty 2 MP
> Bring down the console again, but this time type: com_hunkMegs (you should see that the value you put in before is now applied).
If that doesn't work try the next method.
Method 2
> My Computer
> C:
> Program Files
> Activision
> Call of Duty 2
> Main
> Players
> Geo (in my case, just apply it to yours)
> config_mp (double-click and open in Wordpad)
> You will see "seta com_hunkMegs" about halfway down the list. Change the value of this accordingly to your specs (again, any integer between 1 and 512).
> In Call of Duty 2 MP bring down the console (~ or `) and type in "com_hunkMegs". You should see that the value is the same one you typed in before in Wordpad.
Ps: Thanks to Rollin
