Re: New ARMA 3 Video
The explosions could use some work, but otherwise, that's pretty damn sweet.
I like how you have to have an artillery team or chopper crew on your side in order to request those types of attacks. If your howitzer emplacements get killed, no more arty. If your chopper support gets shot down, no more attack requests.

I love how transparent Bohemia seems to be with their progress in sharing it with their community. We've seen it with DayZ a lot, but even in that "Support" video, he talks about "perhaps" getting rid of the "wonky" controls and things like that.
It's refreshing to see a game company like that.

I liked it, I liked it. I'm getting more excited for this, especially since I've discovered that Arma2 is really badass

Nice
I feel a little like ted but shooting under water probably isnt going to kill you like their demo. Not at that range at least...still it is just a game.
On some guns you can... Yes but it would not be very effective.

But a SPP-1 was desgined to shoot underwater.
SPP-1 is a non-automatic, manually operated handgun with four barrels. Barrels are hinged to the frame in the same manner as on break-open shotguns. For reloading, barrel cluster is tipped to expose chambers, and four cartridges are inserted into barrels. To speed up ejection and reloading cycle, cartridges are loaded using flat clips, made from steel. The double-action trigger unit consists of a striker, mounting on a rotating base, so during the each trigger pull the striker is ****** and simultaneously rotated to the next, unfired barrel. The single lever, located at the left side of the frame, controls the safety and reloading. It has three positions, top for "Reloading" (barrel release), middle for "Safe" and bottom for "Fire".
To be effective underwater, SPP-1 uses special proprietary ammunition, with rimmed bottlenecked cases 40mm long, sealed from water. Unusually long bullets are made from mild steel, and are drag-stabilized underwater; on air, bullets are not stabilized at all, so the effective range "above the air" is limited, but the "lethality range" is about 15 to 20 meters. When underwater, lethality range degrades with the increase of the depth: at 5 meters depth, the effective range is about 17 meters; at 20 meters depth, the effective range is only about 11 meters.

Re: New ARMA 3 Video
Right now my hopes are just really high because there is potentially 3 great games coming out within the next 6 months. The Dayz standalone, Arma III, and Company of Heroes 2.

Any bullet that isn't FMJ will mushroom VERY quickly under water and would be basically useless, hence the reason for creating the dedicated underwater ammo. Although in war, most units would be provided with mass-produced FMJ ammo anyway.Arctictiger wrote:Right now my hopes are just really high because there is potentially 3 great games coming out within the next 6 months. Definitely. Arma III is Q4 of this year, CoH2 is (hopefully) Q1 or Q2 in 2013.
