Im form Poland (in Europe near Germany if someone dont know...), and ping in BF3 on servers from ur list Rhino, I have terrible - 230 - 420 (with my conn. 25mb).

I think most of players from EU will have that pings so dont count on them to ;)
I and my previous clan, when AX have BAS server on CoD:WaW, want give AX for free 2/3 servers in EU - 32slots each. But, AX "heads" saying nothing - viewtopic.php?f=4&t=36486 - second topics where one of urs "head modder" write to me "FU" has ben deleted :) :)
We try helping AX with BAS mod, cuz we loved CoD:WaW, but selfish ppl dont need helps :whoknows:

Now u search ppl, HOPE and interest about this what u try do?
Personally, u lost many gamers from EU, many dont playing on ur servers cuz ping 200 + is not a goot option when we have in EU 5 - 50 ;)
For me changes are ok, BF3 is good, DayZ is somethings "new" - its not like killing floor or l4d ;)
Maybe we can play matches against each other in BF3 (maybe clan war?), but like i say MAYBE - if AX find responsible ppls and ppls who read forum :D

Thats all from my side.
Gratz, and I hope AX will be one more time that "good and big" like in time of CoD:WaW BAS mod :chrisb:

The email newsletter looks good. However, I'd have it proofread by a few people before you send it to hundreds of recipients...

There is also a pole posted above the top thread and we would appreciate you adding your vote.

I did have someone proof read it...

I wont name names...

Just goes to show we need someone with an even better eye.

Are you available Rafter?

Can I cover our bases by adding this pole to the top of the original post?

Thanks for your input.

We have a few players from England, New Zealand and Poland on our COD2 server but we have never had enough european players to justify a server over there. Would be nice if some day that could changed.

As for W@W Bas I'm not sure who you talked to but BAS was a Rollin' Hard project and I dont know if he ever intended to distribute it or not. HE has been missing from the community for some time now.

If we do some future mod development maybe we can set up a better process for handling outside interest.

If you get a chance come game with us or visit the forums and add to anything you find interesting. We have a pretty wide variety of subjects going on.

hahah I proofread it. I take full responsibility.

It's not going to make members not take us seriously either. It slipped through. It happens. I've seen worse in much more established publications.

Speaking of proper grammar, how about proper punctuation? The question mark goes inside the quotation mark. :)

Touché, Sir. (note the inclusion of the accent over the "e" and the capitalization of the "S", noting a formal title)

Re: Proposed Server Changes for AX

Postby SturmVogel » Sun Jul 08, 2012 12:54 am

some of us still have the AX mod and most of the maps.. if we want to do bas fridays its going to be thrown up like any temp server.. when the host disconnects it goes down.. god its aweful to see the sun setting on the BAS server, all those great draged out slugfest games. nothing has ever come close to the tense, brutal and shear glorious 10+ hour matches we had on that good ol' server, only battlefield 3 even comes close to standing next to it and even it falls sloppy dead in the massive shadow that is BASE ASSAULT! :word:
this was for me the pinical of online gaming. it was ALL skill, no candy ass perks or 2nd chance bs. special gun mods or pay-to-win VIP shit or the running around and stabing everything.. modern warfare my ass onlything modern here is some names of people and weapons and even that is loosly based on reality, more like modern hollywood SFX1,2 and 3. i dont like connecting to a game and having to listen to 8 yearolds cuss about how unfair their life is or fucking singing into the damn mic. only chat back then was Xfire or TS and that was something you usualy had to download. I didnt have to see 50+ "420" veriants all with the same stupid pot themed emblems or god forbid Black-Ops and seeing either dicks or swasticas everywhere on the team roster, the idea was great but you cant admin something like that well enough to prevent that bs..

back in good old CoD UO you connected, you chose a side and picked a default weapon, either a 1 assualt rifle 1 smg, 3 rifles a scoped or unscoped and a semi-automatic rifle and a single light MG.

I will never forget 12 hour foy. NEVER. almost wish I had taken a screen shot when allied #3 finaly fell, god damn that was epic.. I still remember it, fighting at that low wall outside the town that you hardly stayed at because it was usualy not safe but the way we had drawn out line of skrimage from allied #2 it was like a sniping point from god himself, and me with my unscoped 98k.. with 15 seconds left and so close to doing the "no turning back" flashing our last tank fell to a hail of satchel charges. I shot some one right in the head as they tried to jump into the bunker, only way it could have been any sweeter is if it was my last round.. was damn close though! just reloaded my last 5 rounds and was rushing up and took a knee at the barn to make my shot..

im not sure if we will ever have the people for another game like that ever again.. I dont think we ever will, and I woudnt want to any way. I grudgingly shelved my 98k a long time ago and took up and FN FAL when the CoD franchise left WaW high and dry.. oh lol u want mod support? okayz here.. oh btw modern warfare 2 is gona be released same day :guesswho:

this group was built off THE undisputidly best multiplayer. we are still here while alot of others are not, because we are made up of a higher calibur of gamer than most ever will be. you cannot beat the old school, you can try. and you can fail.

so I dont see it as killing the bas server. for me this is like removing the life support from a dying friend who cant take the pain any more. sure we still get online. but how long has it been since we rocked a 32+ player game? and we have lost some really great friends along the way :(
the only thing worse than doing this is seeing the server idle with 0 players, or even worse those sad few who wander in seeing all the incredible hard work this mod has in it, I can only imgaine its the same feeling people had in the dark ages wandering to the dead city of Rome.. all this greatness just abandoned, what could have caused this? ill tell you what, activision turned its back on tryin to put out a good product and decided to fall in toe with all the other franchises just shitting stuff out every year for a quick buck.

I will get off my soap box now.. im too young to sound like a angry old man on teh internet.. but damn if i dont feel like one trying to play online these days..

If coduo doesnt tax the server once we have everything else running , then i would think we could bring back the BAS server.

But, i think the other, newer and more played stuff would need to come first.

SturmVogel, I spoke with you briefly on TS last night...I just read the post a the top of this thread by Rhino...I think we |RD| and |ax| can work something out that could be cool...As I said last night we have a BF3 server up and running, a RO2 sever and a UO 1.4 server. We branched out from a clan to a gaming community whenBF2 came out..We have been around for some time...feel free to check us out www.therdclan.com.

I have added a small UO 1.5 server and have 10-12 guys who have upgraded to 1.5 over this last week. UO 1.4 has been our "game" for the past 6-7 years. In any case, 1.4 is in sad shape, 1.5 is not much better, but I think we can squeeze some more life out of it if we work together.

I would love to talk with you guys about some sort of collaborative effort in 1.5. Let me know if you are interested. We could also discuss RO2 and BF3 as well if you guys are looking for servers to play on in those games..

In any case, if you are interested let me know, I would love to put together a scrim in 1.5 as a friendly meet and greet, and to celebrate an "alliance" .

Thanks

Lucky Kill.

I would rather see us do our own thing if we can simply beause that keeps the |ax| community together, keeps our communities identity and we wont end up with two communities arguing about what should change on a server at some future point.

If you guys can offer specifics im sure joe would at least consider it.

Rhino, as a rule I would 100% agree with you. But, the way I see it is that both AX and RD have similar probems, that is a number of people who want to play base. AND admin who are looking at the cost of our operations and are wondering if UO is where we want to be spending money...I have not thought about to many specifics at this point, just wondering if you all are interested in coming up with something where we can both save money and get our base players together. I am thinking bigger than a scrim..I am thinking maybe we could get a server going.

Ax developed their own unique bas assault mod so any server we would support would probably need to run the ax bas mod

I assume the mod you are referring to is the one that is on your current base assault server. I played a map on it when I saw your guys there a few days ago...The mod seems cool to me. I think a few more skins would add to it...Just a suggestion, please don't take it as an insult. In any case as long as it is a moded server I am good...

As many of you know our head admin, Logik, suffered the loss of his brother last week.

He will be taking some time to deal with this and thus his priorities have changed for a while.

Bare with us and I think we will have an answer on this thread in the coming weeks.

Again, thanks for your input and support in this discussion.
