Dayz vs Arma2 server
Last night a group of playing dayz took a break to go play arma2.
It eas pretty good...interesting..tactical..and hard.
So here is the question , and you shouldnt post your answer today...
...which would you rather play more?
Dayz or Arma2?
Dayz in my opinion is struggling from a combination of bugs, gltches, exploits and hacks. The current version of the game is almost pointless to play. You cant save items in tents or score vehicals because the next server restart will reset all those items. Vehicals will return to their prior positions and tents will dissapear until a second restart.
Add to this constant trips to debug field, warping, loosing packs during game play, flipping atvs on invisible objects and you have a game thats fun to tinker with but more than a little frustrating when it comes to anything more thank hunting down a few zombies or hunting down othe players.
Im sure all of this can get fixed in time but at what point is the developer going to be more interested in the standalone game and /or an Arma3 version?
So do me a favor....go play a few rounds of arma2 and give it some thought...
Then give me some feedback. Just make sure medieval stays in front of you. Hes not so good at identifying the enemy.

Always come back for more.

Re: Dayz vs Arma2 server
I would have to say go with ArmA II for now just because DayZ is so unstable at the moment.
Maybe when the standalone version comes out, we could take a look at it, but for now, ArmA II
Screw you
That's what you get for NOT TELLING ME YOU WERE MOVING UP!!!!
What do you expect from a one-eyed sniper??

Cant wait to get home and fire this up with you guys. Ive played arma2 a couple times and i agree with your assessment. Its hard. Long term, it woukd be nice to have a server for both. Short term, if the bugs are as bad as everyone says, id say get one for the base game and convert it to arma3 when it comes out... it would be really nice if the mod tools for 3 were already out.

Re: Dayz vs Arma2 server
I think most of the players who have played Dayz for the last couple months are getting tired of it. For me, there is no end game. You just collect shit over and over, and now the gunfights that use to be so addicting arent what they use to be. I feel like it would be more worth our while if we got a Arma II server, to just play the regular arma and play another mod that is complete.

Yeah. In the server we were playing this morning, I believe it was the Christian something, something server, we could spawn bikes from the ammo box.

I think most of the problems stem from features that ARENT in the game. They really should have something where you cant disconnect if youre a certain distance from players or zombies... or bullets... or items... or buildings. Whatever gives it a good balance.
The bugs im not too concerned about. Rockets usually pretty good at hammering them out in patches.
Admins also have too much power/control over their servers. Im ok with them recommending a ban, but the final decision should be left to Battleye or Bohemian. They get away with too much right now.
I will play this mod/game again, and probably quite often, but if everyone likes the base Arma2 game, we should probably focus on that and prepare ourselves for 3 when its released.

Re: Dayz vs Arma2 server
Im sure when Dayz comes out as a standalone game, its going to be awesome but as of now there is no endgame and its starting to become boring and frustrating for people.

Re: Dayz vs Arma2 server
Quick thought from the zenmiester. I always seem to look for a new games. I've been doing it since cod2 came out. Still haven't found one that is truly worth playing, and believe me I have tried them all. While I've had fun playing Dayz, to me the game has turned into groudhog day. Collect shit, move shit, oh noes the fucking server dissapeared and we get to start over. To me the most important part of online gaming is the people that you play with, and we a very good core group of players in this community. That being said the more games we move to and fro, the more fragmented our group becomes i.e. the cod2 group which imho has been the backbone of AX. I am willing to try out ARMA for a bit, but from reading the reviews and other blah blah blahs about the game, the ONLY reason it is even being discussed is because of the DayzMod. BrAiNzzz.

QFT.....
A very BIG reason why I played UO BAS and COH for as long as I have would be the people here in the community. If it wasn't for them, I would have dropped these games years ago.
The fragmentation of players in the community and players moving on is tough.... there are a lot of players who I played great matches with over the years who moved on and there presence here in the community is greatly missed.

Re: Dayz vs Arma2 server
First off B... I had to look up QFT to be honest, and I feel like a fool for not knowing what it meant. But yeah back to my point that you apparently agree with. I can could name very many people who have frequented the cod2 server over the past years. The server has since been decimated because many of the usual suspects don't frequent it any more. And, this has just been over the last month, or so. I am not giving up on dayz, or arma for that matter, but imho it always seems like the grass is greener on the other side. I love playing cod2 here or any other game for that matter with the ax community. However, it seems like in looking for something better, we are killing what was already great.
