Dayz spinoff

Postby Arctictiger » Thu Jul 26, 2012 4:17 pm

It was only a matter of time, this game is a MMO instead of being a mod on a military simulator. :2thumbsup: (means its own engine!!!)

The War Z is name of it, its expected fall release. :D

http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/07/19/the-w ... -to-day-z/

Visit their website to be able to partcipate in the closed beta later this summer!

Thewarz.com

Nice screenshots!

I definately think this is going to be something to look at and possibly even test with the beta. I hope its just as good as Dayz, but on a less glitchy and More user friendly engine :biglaugh:

Also you can bounties, traps and help requests along with there being safe settlements where you can buy/sell items and most notes for players.

Has both 1st and 3rd person :D
200-400km map size
250 man servers!!!! talk about lag!

HammerpoInt interactive is the game developer :headscratch:

“While exploring the world, scavenging for supplies, weapons, ammo and gear, players will be able to find notes and diaries – text pieces left by other players or NPCs. For example, you can find a diary that tells the story of a family escaping their home and running from zombies – and dying one by one. If you read carefully you can find clues that will point you to a place where you can find better equipment. Another scenario would be finding a note from another real player – this note could either help you or lure you into a trap – you never know what other players intentions are.”

Now thats cool!

You can earn experience points and spend them on skills..sounds cool!
You can accuire ingame cash, which is totally different from Dayz.

Im just worried that they will sell in game bonuses to earn extra money. I would rather pay money upfront then buy "premium items". I find that to be a huge turn off for a game.

Idk if I mentioned this before, but each preorder of Dayz comes with 3-4 Closed Beta passes. I will be pre ordering for that reason to be able to test it out. If we could get 2-4 guys to pre order this game($29.99), then we could possibly get all our Dayz players beta passes. From what I heard, this game has a lot features to make group playing more enjoyable. Such as the ability to see your teammates on the map.

Yes, I would expect nothing less. DayZ is the first of it's kind so there's going to be a lot of stuff that is similar, but at least don't be so obvious about it

Umm I have played other zombie mods for Arma II and Dayz copied some of its idea from those. And honestly I could care lesss if they copied everything from Dayz, if they can make a game that is less buggy and glitchy then I will play it.

I agree with the last part. Not sure about DayZ taking its KEY GAMEPLAY from anywhere else. I think it's pretty original.

But I was sort of disappointed that the video didnt show the guy on the highway completely betraying the guy walking around. That would have been a good twist, and accurate.

It didn't look like there were many zombies.

Two thoughts...

DayZ may have borrowed a lot of stuff from some early Arma2 Zombie missions that were built so maybe its not so original after all. :2cents:

Second WarZ may be nothing more than a bunch of guys that have made some pretty looking still images of a possible Zombie game they would like to make. If you do a search you will notice there are no videos of game play for WarZ yet..just a lot of screen shots. :whoknows:

More warz game play videos. Seems quite different Dayz in some aspects while mimicking Dayz in others.

I'm not sure... I dont know if I want to play it because it looks cool, or because it's new and I love new...

I can tell you I was very uninterested until the day the Alpha was released. Then people were downloading it, and i was thinking, "well, shit! I wanna play now!"
