Re: What I want in Anarchic...
I want us to move from the COD UO and COD WaW servers that arent bringing in traffic, and I want us to move towards gaining more new members in the areas of new games. For example Company of Heroes 2( to be released first quarter of 2013), and Arma II/III. We can possibly look into a DayZ server now, and then switch it to a DayZ Arma III server once the game has been released. I also want us to keep our COD2 servers without a doubt, as they bring in the most traffic out of any of servers. We could possibly look into experimenting with Ax Mod to possibly bring in more new players for COD2

I'm not sure if this topic will get sufficient coverage in the "Other FPS" forum. Perhaps the "Comments and Suggestions" or even the Lounge would be a better platform to discuss such an important subject.

Re: What I want in Anarchic...
a unique/moddable (without consequenses) game that is fun. unique is our only selling point. then, if they come, a system in which demand for play slots creates new revenue
yes i know that my definition of fun is of a higher standard than pretty much everyone else here

Unfortunately no, I don't have that ability.

we are not going to get people to join |ax| from DayZ. Yes people will play on the server but it will not bring people to our forums.
if we make BASE mod for ARMA 3 and advertise it we might get people that way.

But honestly we dont have any body in our community who mods anymore. Gitman, Cornrow, and Rolllinghard have all moved on with thier lives.
We can get people to visit our forums from Dayz, remember its only in Alpha. But each server already have little messages to welcome people to thier server. We can tell people to check out our forums or teamspeak to be able to play with a group there. Also we could do advertising on the DayZ Forums, like the FreeSide Trading Co. did. We can attract people who want to play in a solid group like ourselves. Also in our server we could post messages in the "blue words" like join our teamspeak.

Re: What I want in Anarchic...
Right now, our best bet by far looks like ARMA III and I'm more than willing to map for it.
One of the biggest differences between ax today and ax 2-3 years ago is some of our involvement with other development groups. If you look at the homepage and look at the "Affiliates" column, some of those were groups that we worked with for the UO BAS mod. As of right now, we don't have anybody to mod for us but that can easily change. I'm highly doubtful I have the time to learn to mod and make maps in what limited time I do have but that's not to say we can't pick up someone who can. We need to put the word out that we're looking to rebuild BAS for ARMA III.
On a side note, I think it might be advantageous to us to create "a better version of BAS." BAS is great but it's possible to make it better, and if anyone else tries to do it, we still have something unique.

If modding is as easy for ArmA III as everyone seems to think it's going to be, a BAS mod could be AMAZING. The only problem, is that with such HUGE maps, if we don't have a full server, then people are going to run around like they did on some of the bigger UO maps, and never see each other. But from what I've seen, on most ArmaA II servers anyway, is that they are 100 person servers. The maps are not maps you can just run across, and vehicles are an absolute necessity.
But I, for one, would absolutely love to see a bigger, better BAS!!

no idea. will prolly get dayz after my vacation but honestly i'm not gonna hold any hope. generally if games have a big enough budget to interface well, they always follow the same formula. level up, hold an objective until you die, hold it some more, level up. that and stupid non specific guns per team
Re: What I want in Anarchic...
I think this is a great topic and appreciate everyone's comments. Salute! I think game, game types and commitment. Yes commitment. The single biggest issue IMO. Ax is an amzing community. Think I player here for 3-4 years before I joined. Made many friends.
The old games are fun, but with newer games, better graphics and gameplay and newer machines..simply people are wanting more. No expert, but I get the opinion people are wanting more. Kinda makes it tough if the community is lackninging in moders.
Ax is continuely evolving and I think that's a good thing. Need to find a game with a consensus that a majority finds adequate enough. Look at Red October, was a total bust here. Very few of us played and I don't blame anybody. The game is years away from getting to the forefront. We need to find consistency in a new game.
Love you all. More than willing to follow. Any of you who know me, BAS is my game. Appears on my end to be more tactical than capture the flag (some my disagree...thats OK) and just sprinting all over the map. I invite all of you to add some insight here. Ax is awesome, lets make it even better.

Mapping seems to be getting easier and easier per game. Some programs are more like a paint-it scheme.
As far as players per map and map size go, that should most likely be controlled by devs.

you DO NOT have to play on the all the map, you can size the map down, DayZ isn't all the map they cut it.

If it took off though, a 100 man BAS server would be the most epic thing EVAR!1!

Re: What I want in Anarchic...
dayZ might just be what we need to get this place rolling again! its certanly popular, and alot of other clans are getting involved. painful as it will be, the plug needs to be pulled on our CoD UO and 2 servers. i would even dare say the WaW server? had such potential.. but the fact a new game gets crapped out each year in that genre its just not possible to build a strong community from them any more. arma? arma is much more permenant... and thats what we need...

You couldn't be more wrong here. There is a large group of donors playing this game.

Apparently you pay no attention SturmVogel. COD2 is by far the most popular and supported game in AX and has been for a long time.
