I'm getting ready to leave town so Chicago Alive will be hosting the server tonight.

I put a few of the new maps up on the server and traded out a few of the "icky" ones.

I put up Tripoli...a nice desert map.

I fixed the S&D respawn bug ( I hope). I think I have last weeks have download issue fixed also.

I made a cool new game/ map setup I'm anxious to try with you guys.

The map is called Worldcup.

Here's the layout:
Its a soccer field / stadium with boxes to hide behind.
You get a shotgun with only with one round of ammo and one frag grenade.
The game mode is Capture The Flag Back

The real question is when do I use my grenade or my shotgun round and then how good am I at bashing??

Take a lot of teamwork to move the flags across the field....It gets ugly and funny at the same time.

We've played it a few times and its a real blast...or at least away to blow off a little steam and have lots of laughs.

Thanks again to everyone that donated to keep the server going. Grim, Poison and General Boum.

I am working on a scrimmage with Outlaw on the 21st of August. Signup in the forums as always. We are also going to do another |ax|CivilWar in Early September. Then we will work on another 1 vs 1 tournament and more scrimmages.

See you tonight I hope.

Well to be honest I overdid it...

We tested it with maybe 4 players and it seemed ok but with 14 it was a mess...back to the drawing board...

Taking out the grenades and shipping it down to just the shotgun and the 1 round of ammo...no grenades and definitely no random airs tikes..

Sorry guys I pooched that one...

Try it now if you get a chance...no airstrikes and no grenades. Hopefully much better

Thanks CT...the airstrikes were a joke in the first place and they were supposed to be off by Thursday night but turns out the satchel nades seem to mess it up too.

What I'm trying to find is a fun distraction type of game just to throw some variety into the rotation in a few places.

I didnt have time to send out the emails this week but we still had a really nice group. At one point it was about 16.

We got B_Rus on the PC (punkbuster off) so he could try out the new Alienware rig he just got....I think he likes it......PB is definitely going back on now mister...LOL

I think we got Worldcup ironed out too.....

Was good to fire up the PressureCooker Mod and play that for almost 2 hours. LOve playing the tactical games with you guys.

See ya next week guys.

For anyone looking for a 1 vs1 game I'm always up for that now that the WAWA maps are back on the PC....

Means you dont have the map downloaded..I would guess.

It should be named wawa3D

You might have the choose "Change map and gametype" then choose TDM and the map.

Hi all...

Not much new to report. I'm working in a couple of new maps to play with.

On Tuesday night we had a good sized group for the first WAWA night. Vorg and Dirka ruled the roost but there were some good matches with others too.

If you online come game with us tonight. As always we'll play S&D, HQ, CTFB and LTS til around 10 eastern time
then flip on the PressureCooker mod and play till we run out of players.

As always ...Bring a Friend if you have any.

Great games, Thank you Rhino, and everyone else for all your hard work to put this together.

I reached a gaming high tonight.

I bashed Spawn, and it felt good :moe:

Just a quick reminder that we will be playing tonight. I added a couple of new maps and tweaked a few of the games.

Added a bash only map. Added airdropped ammo to the world cup map. Added Gunslingers as pistols only.

New maps- Juno beach and Valognes

Since our very own Chicago is going to be leaving soon, and he requested it...we'll be switching over to PressureCooker mode early tonight to get in a few extra rounds with him.

Cya there.

As many of you know our very own ChicagoAlive has been called back into military service and will be shipping out for Japan and then Afghanistan for a year.

In his honor we'd like to throw him a little COD2 going away party.

Come play a few rounds with us and help the AX community send him off in style. At his request we will be playing the PressureCooker mode most of the night.

If you wish to post something for Chicago in the forums there is a thread here:

We honor his service to this country. We will miss his sense of humor, his aim and the patented "Demolition Man" maneuvers.

Cya Thursday

That open site Springfield bolt action is very nice. Wouldn't mind seeing that on the CTF server. It sounds very different from the other weapons, but I like how it shoots :D

The unscoped Springfield was added by Gitman in his next version of the mod. I changed the sound to give it a bigger punch. The mod on the PressureCooker also has a different Tk system that lengthens your respawn time with each TK you have.

Re: Pressure Cooker - Thursday Nights

Hi all...

I took the last few weeks off in terms of emailing you guys about the PressureCooker. I needed a break and it was the dog days of summer. Had to get in a few rounds of golf. In that time I made a lot of changes to the server including:

1. We are now running the anarchic mod just like the ctf server so players should be used to the "feel".
2. The PressureCooker is running a mixed rotation of CTF, HQ and LTS.
3. You can now use the Vote feature to load the WAWA maps (big and small boxes).
4. We now have the ability to limit weapons on the fly (bolts only, snipers only, shotguns only, etc)
5. Lots of new maps ( different than the ones we have on the CTF server)
6. Lots of new eye and ear candy - read on.....
7. New camouflage flags (harder to see ..easier to hide)
8. Camouflage uniforms for axis and allies
9. New main screen design featuring the |ax| logo
10. New font in the game menus
11. New sounds for some of the weapons including the allied un-scoped springfield
12. New music on the main and scores screens.

Some of these changes are my attempt to make the game play less run and gun and more "tactical." Team play and communication is a must.....

So tonight I'm going to throw the server in PressureCooker mode (capture the flag with overtime meets search and destroy).
Bring a friend and lets give the new setup an acid test. I look forward to your feedback. More than that I look forward to playing with you guys. We will start around 8 pm eastern and play as long as we can. Cya there.

Holly crap......with the head icons off I had more TK's in one night than I've had in the last month.

To all my teammates I appologize. :biglaugh:

While I'm tempted to push it even further and turn off the compass teammate markers and flag location markers I'm not sure I'd be able to play without wiping out my whole team and or live in fear of being shot by them.

What say you?

Oh by the way thanks for the donation and good games last night guys. That was fun.

Any of the maps you guys think really suck?
I'll delete them and find something new we dont know just to make it harder....LOL

It was fun last night. With the team colors looking very similar and now the head icons off, there was sure to be more TK'ing. :)

Only suggestion I could still make is to ensure that any map that has the Lee-Enfield is replaced with a better rifle (KAR, Mosignat or Springfield). Bad enough that their colors are usually brighter making them easier to see, now they have a rifle that is harder to shoot. Of course, that is only my opinion. Guess there would be others who love the Lee-Enfield (although I doubt many).

BTW, How about the player "retsfrim | saiLa", pretty good shot eh? Took me like two maps to realize that was my name spelled backwards with the colors switched around...

Got an e-mail from them later on so I know who they are, you know? Hint: They play on the AX Servers a lot and have only posted in the forums a couple times....

i don't mind not having the team markers, just means you have to be more careful.
but yeah, i still don't like the long timers... i think it kills the game. maybe reduce from 20 to 10s?

Thanks patchez.....and Mirf...

I'm open to whatever is reasonable and liked. The original idea behind the time between rounds was so that a team could discuss how they wanted to play that round. IE All go south north east etc, or split up, or hold up in the house. Bottom line we want to the game play to be a team effort and more tactical than just "Run out there and die"

The initial time to start the first round is like 45 seconds..time for players to get in and then come up with a plan. Time between rounds is 20 seconds...to come up with the revised plan after the first one failed...or succeeded. Usually the former in my case.

Thanks for the feedback. AM going to try and get the uniforms a little different. Especially the german and allies.

Mirf I can change which teams get loaded on any map....IE American British, Russian. Not sure about making the springfield available to all but hey I like the Lee..it shoots good from the hip...for me.]
